Bullying nowadays is rampant and the usual victims are the youth. It became a significant problem in the society that needs to be given attention. Experts are afraid that bullying will turn out as common and widespread.
Mostly adolescents face bullying everyday either in school or outside school, which is a very real threat to them and to their future.
Victims of bullying are the one who suffers a lot, emotionally, physically, academically and may also experience behavioral problems later on in life.
They may also suffer loneliness, depression, and develop behavioral problems. Loss of confidence and susceptibility to illness may also experience by the victim after bullying.
Identifying a victim of bully is somehow difficult, because they usually appears normal physically, they have tendencies wherein they will not admit that they being bullied they will try to keep to other people and will struggle to solve it on their own, which is not good.
Bullied victim must be given assistance whenever possible.
To prevent bullying in school, cooperation of the victim, teacher, parents, friends and families must be acquired.
How to help a bully victim:
- When a victim of bully comes to you, you must show to them that you are willing to listen to them.
- After listening to the victim, listen also the side of the bully.
Identify the cause of bullying and try to correct it.
Every situation must be addressed with caution so that resolution to the problem can be found.
- Report the incident to the parents of both the bully and the victim.
Work and discuss with them in finding solutions to the problem.
Meet them in person if possible.
- Talk again with the victim together with the parents and teachers about the situation.
- Lastly, try to monitor the behavior of the bully and the victim.
And watch out for the recurrence of bullying.
